4th
of July
As much as we love to celebrate the 4th, this is a traumatic time for most pets.
The loud sounds of the fireworks frightened them, and most pets will escape and
run to get away from it. Every year, we get a record number of phone calls from
people who's dogs/cats are missing. Even old arthritic dogs will jump fences
when the fear-adrenaline kicks in! They can and will jump or dig
under fences and rip through screens to escape. PLEASE keep them inside, and
provide them with a kennel or pet house. A bedroom is an ideal location, they
can hide under the bed or in a closet and this can help them feel a little more
secure.
Membership Drive
We are having a membership drive this summer, and you could win yourself a great
prize for participating! New and Current members can earn raffle tickets based
on donations made to MHS. For a $20 donation, you can earn 1 raffle ticket. For
each additional $10 donation, you earn another raffle ticket. The prizes are
tickets to local attractions, gift certificates and gift baskets of goodies.
There is no limit to the number of tickets you can get. Winners will be drawn on
Aug. 30th and you do not need to be present to win.
Prizes include:
Disneyland tickets
Adventure City tickets
Aquarium of the Pacific tickets
A Round of Golf at the Arrowhead Country Club
MHS Recipe Book
We are preparing a taste-tempting recipe book featuring favorite recipes from
friends and members of MHS. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of this book will
go directly to our programs. If you would like to participate in our recipe book
by submitting recipes, pet photos or pre-ordering a book, please contact us at
mountainshumanesociety@hotmail.com for details!
Volunteers Needed!!
We need volunteers! If you can
donate a few hours per week to help us, please call Karin at (909) 337-6422 for more
information.
Low-Income Pet Food Assistance
We have been getting more and more requests for pet food(s) from low income
families so they can feed their pets. If you would like to help us with
this need, please send a check payable to MHS and indicate "food bank" in the
memo section or on the envelope. This money will be used to purchase and deliver
food to these families. If you would like a tax receipt, we would be more than
happy to supply that to you; just ask!
